Eleven Arts
A North American anime distributor working directly with Japanese studios and producers, from translation and localization through theatrical, home video and merchandise. Their catalog runs from Satoshi Kon's Millennium Actress to A Silent Voice, Liz and the Blue Bird, Penguin Highway and Maquia — which is to say, they have spent years getting films exactly like this one back onto real screens.
elevenarts.net →Japantown, always.
New People Cinema sits on Post Street in the oldest and largest of the three Japantowns left in the country. Two organizations spend every day keeping it that way.

Japantown Cultural District
Formed in 2018, JCD was the first of San Francisco's eight Cultural Districts funded by the Mayor's Office of Housing and Community Development. It works to keep the neighborhood culturally regenerative, economically vibrant and genuinely Japantown — serving Japanese and Japanese American communities for generations to come. Its Visitor Center is upstairs in the Japan Center East Mall, two minutes from the cinema door.

Japantown Community Benefit District, Inc.
The JCBD is funded by an assessment on district property owners and spends it on the unglamorous half of a good night out: its Clean Team and Community Ambassadors work the district seven days a week on litter, graffiti, pressure-washing and checking in on businesses, and the JCBD markets Japantown as the cultural destination it is. If the walk from the garage to the theater feels easy, that is them.

Every logo above is really a person who replied to a cold message from a brand-new screening series and said yes. That is the part we actually want to name.
We are not printing anyone's name here without asking them first. If you have been on the other end of one of those threads and you want the credit, say so and this section gets your name on it before October 15.
